A Political Figure

I have lived in Anderson for 45 years. I attended Indiana Christian Academy for a number of years and graduated from Madison Heights High School. I have attended Grace Baptist Church for 45 years and have been a member there for at least 30 years. Having a strong sense of compassion for those struggling with mental and behavioral health, I obtained a BS in Psychology from Ball State University. I worked for the Center for Mental Health and later for the Madison County Youth Center. Eventually, I chose to stay home to focus on raising and homeschooling my three children, who are all now adults. Over the years, I became a professional photographer, licensed travel agent, and caregiver to Larry "The Can Man" Van Ness. More recently, I founded Larry's Legacy. I am V.P. of the Madison County Women's Republican Club and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.I have been married to my husband, Jerry, for 30 years and have three adult children. My family has a strong military background with my father, husband, oldest son, and daughter all having served. I care deeply about the well-being of our local veterans and feel strongly about protecting and exercising the rights and freedoms our veterans fought and sacrificed for.I love Anderson and want to see it grow, improve, and be a safe place to live. I will strive to do my best to serve our community well by promoting growth through economic development, improvements in our aging infrastructure, and addressing public safety issues, including crime, homelessness, drug abuse and addiction, and safe housing.  By being on the city council, I hope to gain better opportunity to affect some of these issues. But, I also intend to impact these issues as a citizen by working with private groups.  Voting for me is a vote for you. Voting for me is voting in favor of your community. Together we can make a difference!

Colorful Houses

Safe Living Environment

The Stakes are High

As a long-time resident of Anderson, I am proud to support and push for change throughout the community. Safety and the sense of well-being are very serious issues that have been impacting the citizens of Anderson.  I will do my part within the authority of the city council to support our local law enforcement and other first responders to continue and improve the work they are doing to keep our city safe.  I will seek additional ways to impact public safety through my role on the council.

Substance Abuse and Addiction

Prevention is Key

I am truly passionate about this issue, as it is one that impacts so many people in Anderson.  I hold this issue close to my heart, having many friends who have lost loved ones to addiction.

The drug trafficking issue is serious in our city and we, as citizens, and the city leaders have got to get it under control.  It is the drug problem that contributes to so many other problems we are dealing with in Anderson, whether it be violent crime, petty crime, drug or human trafficking, abuse and neglect, homelessness, the lack of a proper workforce, or the lack of citizens who care enough about themselves, their neighbor, or life in general.

Substance abuse and addiction is likely the symptom of an even larger problem.  Mental health? Physical health? Social pressure? Living environment? Prescribed usage leading to unintended abuse or addiction?  Whatever the reason leading to addiction, we need to find ways for prevention.  Nobody wants to be addicted to drugs or anything else. Nobody.

Finding ways to prevent anyone from choosing to abuse a drug that first time is imperative.  Take the customer away from the dealer and they're out of business.  I have ideas.  Do you have ideas? A lot of ideas are already in place.  Are they effective?  Tell me what you think?

Our Aging Infrastructure

You Deserve Better

Everyone is aware of our aging water system and power grid and the need for upgrades.  This is going to take a lot of time and money to fix.  I am going to do my best to support efforts in getting this done sooner rather than later and in a cost effective manner that still maintains the high standard that the citizens of Anderson deserve!

Homelessness

Caring For All People

This particular issue has been increasingly gaining coverage all over the world. In Anderson, like in so many places, it is an issue that needs to be addressed and heavily discussed among politicians.  As part of the city council, I may not deal directly with the homelessness issue, but I will have some say on safe housing and reducing the risk for citizens to become homeless. On a private citizen level outside of the workings of the city council, I intend to get involved in other ways to push for change and how to reduce the rate of homelessness in our area.

Economic Development

Key Policy

I strongly support diverse economic development in Anderson.  I will support efforts in making it easy and desirable for business owners to make Anderson where they want to settle.  I will make conservative, wise, and thoughtful choices when it comes to issues regarding zoning, tax abatements, improving our infrastructure, taxes, the city budget, and more.  I want to hear your concerns and ideas!

Transparency

Let's Be Open

I feel very strongly about transparency in government. Transparency means sharing information and acting in an open manner. Free access to information is a key element in promoting transparency. Information must be timely, relevant, accurate, and complete for it to be used effectively.

There are a variety of ways this can be achieved, such as proactive communication with citizens, town hall meetings, making public meeting documents easily accessible, soliciting citizen feedback, and convenient services offered through digital channels.

I will always make myself available to listen to YOU and hear your concerns on issues that fall within my scope of influence and authority.  For issues outside of my scope, I will direct you to the right person!
